Saturday
This week I have been mostly playing around with Linux Mint. It is a great desktop distribution, and it makes Linux easy for the not/so/geeky, it however has some problems that needs attending to. Like the bookmarks in Firefox, why would I want to replace them with the updated ones from the repo?
At least give me a choice what to do about he configuration files you want me to update (/I know you do, but I want it to ask pre/post-update, not wait for my input and halt the update process whie waiting for my answer) This one thing alone holds me back from recommending Linux Mint, it is just something that would freak out the regular user. Nothing more to complain about. And if you plan to use Mint, stick with the safe updates as advised, or you will run in to stability problems! I should know…
Speaking of bookmarks and Firefox, Foxmarks is a great plugin that would save you from loosing your bookmarks ever again. Check it out. Rant is over now .
But, I do look forward to trying out Mint6 when it is released. It is the most user friendly linux distro around. period.
And I will mention my complaints on the mint forums later.
Update: dirtylobster was kind enough to inform me that the updated bookmarks does not overwrite your personal bookmarks. Seems like I was wrong, it does happen..
